Abstract: At present, China is in a critical period of steady promotion of national park system and transformation and reconstruction of nature protected area system. Clarifying the development ideas and concepts of national parks is a key issue that we need to solve urgently. The book National Parks: The American Experience provides a more comprehensive discussion of the development of the national park system and changes in development concepts in the United States. The book tells the story of a series of games between the interest groups such as the federal government, railway companies and environmental organizations about how the national parks should be developed through important historical events, key driving figures and related groundbreaking laws.
