Existence Value Assessment on Trademark Species in China

  • To explore the existence values of trademark species and the responsibilities in biodiversity conservation of enterprises with biological trademarks, a study on well-known biological trademarks in China was carried out. The existence values of the species were evaluated using contingent valuation method (CVM), and the relationships between the existence value of a trademark species and the estimated value of a well-known trademark were analyzed. The results indicated that the total existence values of trademark species in 14 well-known enterprises were 48.859 4 million RMB Yuan. According to the principle of Willingness to Pay, the total existence values of trademark species were 128.249 7 million RMB by enterprises and 9.010 2 million RMB Yuan by individuals. The biodiversity conservation in China will be greatly promoted if the well-known trademark enterprises would share the social responsibilities in it.
