Abstract:
The establishment and smooth operation of the carbon ticket trading system, as an important measure to practice the "Two Mountains" theory, serve as a key mechanism to promote the value realization of ecological products from forestry carbon sinks and to advance the "Dual Carbon" goals. Currently, China's carbon ticket trading system has been gradually established and has facilitated transactions on a certain scale, achieving preliminary results in activating regional carbon markets and increasing the income of forest farmers. However, as a new institutional arrangement for carbon sink trading, forestry carbon tickets still face numerous challenges in the process of promoting the value realization of ecological products from forestry carbon sinks. These challenges constrain the efficiency of realizing the value of such ecological products and hinder the full exploitation of China's potential for enhancing carbon sequestration in forestry. Against this backdrop, this paper theoretically explains the mechanism through which carbon ticket trading promotes the value realization of ecological products from forestry carbon sinks. Based on typical cases of carbon ticket trading across 47 instances in 11 provinces nationwide, it analyzes the current state of value realization facilitated by carbon ticket trading. The paper also summarizes the main challenges faced in this process from five dimensions and proposes solutions and recommendations to address them.
