Abstract:
The consciousness of objectification that runs deep throughout Marx’s texts reduces the emergence and transformation of community to the sensible process in which human objective life-activity constantly externalizes itself, becomes alienated, and returns to itself, thereby laying the theoretical foundation for Marx’s thought on community. In the subjective dimension, objectifying activity serves as the sensible-practical basis for the genesis of communal subjectivity, supporting the possibility of community’s formation; in the relational dimension, it establishes the interdependent and dialectically unified bonds among individuals, consolidating the reality of communal structures; in the dimension of consciousness, it cultivates and confirms the subject’s awareness of its species-being, providing legitimate support for the maintenance of community. The alienated form of objectifying activity constitutes a sharp weapon for criticizing the “illusory community,” while the essential return of objectifying activity clearly points to the concrete path toward the “true community.” This critical reconstruction, grounded in the logic of objectification and rooted in dialectical materialism and historical materialism, offers profound and coherent philosophical support for the contemporary construction of both a human community with a shared future and the Chinese national community.
