Establishment of Ming-style Furniture Part Library Based on the Parametric Modeling in CREO

  • The heritage of Ming-style furniture in modern is in crisis, one reason is because of its expensive price and the complexity of production process, another reason is that its handicraft production techniques failed to be undertaken to the modern mode. The essence of Ming-style furniture is on its mortise-tenon structure with modularization. The family table function of CREO software can be used to build part library based on its modular features, meeting the feature of mortise-tenon parts with the same structure but in different size. In order to satisfy the modern production of Ming-style furniture, a system comprehending the parametric characteristics of mortise-tenon structure and reference feature modeling as a whole is created, the bottom-up modeling method is used for the integration of part library, and finally it is proved through the establishment of Longfeng tenon part library.
