Abstract
Bamboo is a key habitat factor affecting giant panda habitats, and thus local community residents' bamboo utilization behavior can be a major challenge to the conservation effectiveness of giant pandas. Research data collected from giant panda habitats in Tianquan County and Baoxing County of Sichuan Province are analyzed by using the Spearman's correlation analysis method and binary logistic model. The results reveal that respondents' gender, experience of entrepreneurial activities and training, difficulty of borrowing, income channels, and food sources have significant effects on bamboo utilization behavior of local community residents. The drivers of bamboo utilization behaviors are analyzed from four aspects: individual characteristics of respondents, livelihood capital, livelihood strategies, and policy perceptions. Besides, coping strategies in terms of industrial development, urban-rural integration, and management models are proposed.
