  • LIU Zong-yuan, a famous litterateur of Tang Dynasty, visited and enjoyed beautiful sceneries, explored nature resources within his jurisdiction,and designed and built many scenic spots when he was banished to Yongzhou (in todays Hunan province) and Liuzhou (in Guangxi zhuang Autonomous Region) for offending the emperor. His activities and thoughts are analyzed in this paper. It would guide us to find a coordinated development approach between building the modern city public gardens and developing environmental construction. The research has significant and historical meanings for evaluating officials’ political achievements and ecological civilization construction.
