Significance of Landscape Symbols in Anlan Garden

Based on the research of original appearance of Anlan Garden，one of the four famous gardens in Qing Dynasty in southern Yangtze River, this paper traces the historical changes of the garden，and analyzes the landscape arrangement and elements of the garden. From the perspective of semiotics, the paper illustrates symbolic meaning expressed by the rockery, water，plant landscaping, and building arrangement in the garden by means of symbol and analog approaches. The authors research on landscape characteristics and space to make the value of the garden known again by nowadays.
