Rise and Fall and Preservation of Flower Gods Culture and Flower Birthday Tradition

  • Starting from the analysis of deep origin between flower and Chinese civilization, this paper divides the process of human beings understanding flower into three levels. Flower anthropomorphization is the essence of traditional Chinese flower culture. The authors review the historical change of Chinese Flower God, the rise and fall of the Flower Birthday tradition. Flower Gods of 12 months from many folk editions are summarized. It holds the point that we should rescue, preserve, inherit and carry forward the Flower God culture and the Flower Birthday tradition as soon as possible.
