Abstract: Modernity criticism is one of the themes that runs through the theoretical spectrum of ecological Marxism. Different from the critical approach of traditional western green thoughts resorting to ethical regulation and mode of thinking, ecological Marxism takes capital criticism as the logical starting point, centers on the value system of modernity and its internal development logic, and forms a logical approach from capital criticism to capitalist mode of production criticism, from capitalist mode of production criticism to technical rationality criticism, from technical rationality criticism to alienation values criticism, and highlights the theoretical characteristics of "dialectics", "reality" and "creativity". Ecological Marxism's criticism of modernity reveals the internal paradox of modernity, and at the same time represents the possibility of western dominated modernity rupture. It not only releases new theoretical energy efficiency for the expansion of western modernity criticism, but also provides new reference resources for the construction of Chinese modernization.
