Abstract:
Monastery garden is one of the three major types of classical garden in China. Buddhism monastery garden is the most important part of monastery garden. Common composition of a temple is quad or evolution of quad. There is mostly a spindle axis in a temple. Construction accompanied with plant will emphasize religious atmosphere,and form unique plant landscape of Buddhism monastery garden. This paper introduces characteristics of plant landscape and common plants in Buddhism monastery gardens mainly in Beijing and Ningbo City of Zhejiang Province, and provides reference to planting design in monastery gardents.
