Textual Research on Reed (Phragmites communis Trin.)(芦)and Amur Silvergrass(Triarrhena sacchariflora (Maxim.) Nakai)(荻)

摘要: 芦苇和荻是两种不同的草本植物,常见于古代文献典籍。因芦、荻别称较多,古人在芦、荻的区别上有过不少争论。从芦、荻名实考辨、植物学区别、用途异同及芦荻的文化意蕴特色方面考证和论述了二者的不同。

Abstract: Reed and amur silvergrass are two herbs that frequently appear in Chinese classical literature. There were endless debates in ancient China on the similarities and differences of the two herbs because they both have many alternative names. Based on literary characteristic and botanical data, the authors discuss their name origins, applications, and cultural implications.
