Abstract:
Through analysis of the data received from wooden furniture enterprises and association at
Dalingshan Town in Guangdong Province, this paper discusses the possible impacts of the EU Timber
Regulation on Chinese wooden furniture export enterprises. The study finds that most enterprises have a
low degree of cognition of and attention to the EU Timber Regulation and their response to it is rather
passive. Most enterprises admit that the EU Timber Regulation helps to combat illegal logging, but they
believe it's a new trade barrier on the other hand. The implementation of the EU Timber Regulation will
significantly increase the cost of Chinese enterprises to export products to the EU, and reduce their
competitive advantage as well as market share in EU market. Finally, the paper puts forward some
suggestions for Chinese wooden furniture export enterprises, including improving the enterprises'coping
and cognitive abilities, exploring new markets and optimizing the industrial structure.
