江苏省仪征市明末清初寤园西园荣园汪园容园闵园考

Textual Reaserch on Wuyuan、Xiyuan、Rongyuan(荣园)、Wangyuan、Rongyuan(容园) and Minyuan in Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasties in Yizheng Municipality,Jiangsu Province

摘要: 明代崇祯四年(1631) ,在仪真县西南部,计成为汪士衡设计、建造了寤园。但是寤园的名字很快消失了,寤园所在的区域存在西园荣园汪园容园闵园等园林的名称。这些名称让学者们十分迷惑。研究表明,这些名称是同一个花园在不同情况下的不同叫法。寤园是最初的名字,西园是根据这座园林所处位置起的名字,荣园是寤园进入清朝以后改的名字,汪园是根据寤园园主汪氏家族姓氏起的名字,容园是荣园卖给闵氏以后改的名字,闵园是根据容园园主闵氏家族姓氏起的名字。

Abstract: In the 4th year of Chongzhen, Ming Dynasty,in southwest of Yizhen County, a garden was designed and constructed by JI Cheng for WANG Shi- heng. It was given the name of Wuyuan. But the name of Wuyuan disappeared soon. Other names, including Xiyuan, Rongyuan ( 荣园), Wangyuan, Rongyuan(容园), and Minyuan appeared in the area where Wuyuan had been built. This puzzled scholars. The research shows that these names were the different names of the same garden in different times . Wuyuan was the original name, and Xiyuan was the name according to its location. In Qing Dynasty, the name of this garden was changed into Rongyuan( 荣园) . Then it was named Wangyuan after the owner the Wang family. The name was changed into Rongyuan( 容园) after it was sold to Min family. It was also known as Minyuan because of the family name of its owner.
