Water is the source of life. Rational use and protection of water resources should be a top priority in human development. Embankment is a basic element of water systems and its form and material have direct impact on water environment. This paper analyzes problems of urban water systems in China, introduces the history of ecological embankment and usual basic design methods of ecological embankment for the water systems, and provides reference to the development of urban water systems in China.
