  • Abstract:The entrance space of an ancient village is an important spot of village landscape and reflects its unique local culture and aesthetic consciousness. In an overall turbulent environment caused by natural calamities and man-made misfortunes in ancient period, the sense of security, as the residents'perception of entrance space, is a need as well as a demand. Based on the field survey of 20 ancient villages and the sorting of different literatures, this paper finds that the sense of security of entrance space is not only constructed through landscape design, but also influenced by ecological concept and folk culture. Taking the entrance space of an ancient village in Zhejiang Province as the research object, this paper discusses the construction methods of the sense of security in entrance space from aspects of ecology, landscape and culture, and summarizes the different expressions of different construction methods in entrance space. By exploring the humanistic and artistic enchantments of traditional villages in Zhejiang Province, this paper is expected to provide some references for the designing of entrance spaces in modern residential areas and thus promote the inheritance and development of the traditional concept of human settlements in Zhejiang Province.
