Abstract:
This paper discusses the reuse mode of the Wuhan International Garden Expo Park, based on the elaboration of the serious social mental problems from the urban profound aging. First, the paper dissects the thematic characteristics of 10 th Wuhan International Garden Expo in 2015, then collects and lists the typical issues of elders' care in Wuhan, and finally points out the issue of transferring the theme "Green life" during the Garden Expo to " have a happy and worthful life in aging period" in the post- Garden Expo. Through resident interview, questionnaire survey, and listening to the public opinions in the community close to the Wuhan International Garden Expo Park, we present suggestions focusing on the two aspects of design and economic strategies, aiming at providing post-Garden Expo design references for other domestic cities. Having the transformation design of the facilities and landscapes in the Wuhan International Garden Expo Park as a case, we propose the design strategy of transferring it to a suitable park for aging citizens, emphasizing that both welfare and economy should be taken into account in the design while welfare should be considered as the major one.
