Support Effect of Chinese Forest Seedlings Industry on Revenue Growth of Farmers: Based on Panel Data of Eastern, Central, and Western Regions of China

  • The development of forest seedlings industry is of far-reaching significance to enhance productivity of forest land and to increase farmers' income. The panel data of 29 provinces, autonomous regions and cities from 2005 to 2015 in China were utilized to establish the indicator system based on Structure-Conduct-Performance to analyze and compare the impact of forest seedlings industry on income of local farmers. The benchmark models were established respectively in eastern, central and western regions after panel unit root inspection, F-test and Hausman test. And expansion models were established by introducing control variables step by step. The results show that regional difference is highlighted in the impact of forest seedlings industry on local farmers' income, in which human capital and input-output scale effect of forest seedlings industry have a significant impact on farmers' income in eastern and central regions. Furthermore, the infrastructure construction and performance level of forest seedlings industry have an obvious effect on farmers' income in the western region. It is also found that industrial supporting policies have a strong effect in these three regions. Eventually, proposals on developing Chinese regional forest seedlings industry are put forward to reinforce the effect on revenue growth of farmers.
